DN2010: 5th Intl Conf on Comparing Design in Nature with Science and Engineering

Papers are published in the Transactions of the Wessex Institute of Technology and distributed throughout the world. In addition, they are archived in the Wessex Institute eLibrary where they are permanently and easily accessible to the international community.  Delegates attending Design and Nature 2010 will be invited to submit an extended version of their paper for publication in the International Journal of Design & Nature and Ecodynamics, associated with the Wessex Institute of Technology.

CARWH 2010: Conf of the Canadian Association for Research on Work and Health

The next conference of the Canadian Association for Research on Work and Health (CARWH) will be held in Toronto on May 28-29, 2010, hosted by the Institute for Work & Health. The theme for the conference is, “Worker Health in a Changing World of Work.”  This conference provides an opportunity to present research results and innovative research methods, explore the applications of research, identify and clarify needs, foster collaborations and new research projects, and inform occupational health and safety policies and practices that will result in the improved health and safety of Canadian workers.The Call for Abstracts for the conference is now posted at http://carwh2010.iwh.on.ca.

FISCAR10: Nordic Conference on Activity Theory and the Fourth Finnish Conference on Cultural and Activity Research

POPCAANZ: 1st Annual Conf of the Popular Culture Association of Australia and New Zealand

The 1st Annual Conference of the Popular Culture Association of Australia and New Zealand will be held June 30-july 2, 2010, at the Vibe Hotel, Goulburn Street, Sydney Australia.  The theme is: FASHION.  Fashion is concerned with all areas of dress, clothing, apparel and fashion which includes: historical methods, design, sustainability, aesthetics, philosophy, marketing, advertising, branding, merchandising, retailing, cultural and sociological aspects of dress and fashion, gender, body image, and cultural identities.

DESIGN2010: 11th Intl Design Conference (May, Croatia)

The 11th INTERNATIONAL DESIGN CONFERENCE will be held May 17-20, 2010, in Cavtat near DUBROVNIK, Croatia.   The Conference aims to create opportunities for participants to discuss their existing research, develop new research questions and develop awareness and understanding of engineering design by sharing and exchanging knowledge with fellow researchers and practitioners.

Last July, Re-public published a Special Issue on “Innovative Service Design for All“.
Re-public invites contributions for a second special issue dedicated to “Innovative Service Design for All”.

Service design lies in the centre of attention in contemporary, increasingly service-oriented knowledge economies. In such contexts, user experience is paramount, including both the interfaces and interactions that customers use to contact the service provider, as well as the back-office activities performed by the service provider. Given the complexity of services in modern, multicultural, networked societies and the criticality of their environmental impact, service design becomes a major issue for the years to come.

7th Intl Conf on Design & Emotion (Oct 2010, Chicago)

The Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology, and the Design & Emotion Society are pleased to invite you to participate in the 7th International Conference on Design & Emotion in Chicago, October 4-7, 2010. The International Conference on Design & Emotion is a forum held every other year where practitioners, researchers and industry leaders meet and exchange knowledge and insights concerning the cross-disciplinary field of design and emotion. RGD2010: 2nd Intl Design Conf “Responsibility in Graphic Design” (January, Poland)

The Design Faculty at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice cordially invites all Design Teachers, Researchers, Students, Alumni and Professionals to participate in the 2nd International Design Conference under the heading “Responsibility in Graphic Design”, to be held between the 11th and 15th of January 2010 at the Roundabout Art Gallery.

The focus of this conference is on the notion of responsibility with relation to graphic design professionals and teachers, responsible attitudes in its practice, and the necessary changes in the scope and methods of teaching the subject. The conference is intended as a means of bringing together an international group of academics, students, and professionals. We invite everyone who is interested in shaping civic attitudes and teaching responsible design to take part in the lectures and discussions. The main objective of the conference is to direct the attention of participants to their own work strategies, curricula and teaching methodology, as well as research and projects characterising the current, socially responsible graphic design.

ICTVC2010: 4th Intl Conf on Typography and Visual Communication (June, Cyprus)

On 17, 18 & 19 June 2010 the Department of Design & Multimedia of the University of Nicosia will be hosting the 4th International Conference on Typography and Visual Communication (ICTVC) with the general theme “Lending Grace to Language”.

After three important and successful international meetings (2002, 2004, 2007 / http://www.ictvc.org/) ICTVC moves to Cyprus.  Our new home sits at the crossroads of three continents, a location of historical significance that far outweighs its small size.  The multicultural character of the island makes Cyprus a perfect location for a conference that explores the world of typographic design and visual language.
