The 6th workshop of the Design Society’s Special Interest Group (SIG) on Design Theory, this year in co-operation with the SIG on Creativity, will take place on 4-5 February 2013 at Mines Paris Tech, 60 boulevard Saint Michel, Paris, France.
Contributions are welcome from these areas:
1- Design Theory and other disciplines: decision theory, AI, engineering sciences, biology,…
2- The value of Design Theory for practitioners
3- Design Theory and Education
4- Design Theory and perception theory
5- Design theory and the economics of design
This year the Design Theory Paris workshop welcomes a joint session organized by two SIGs of the Design Society:
- Design Theory SIG (led by Armand Hatchuel, Paris/France, and Yoram Reich, Tel Aviv/Israel)
- Design Creativity SIG (led by Toshiharu Taura, Kobe/Japan)
The goal of this joint session is to discuss the overlapping and shared issues and to investigate the two traditions of design theory and design creativity.
a) Any person interested in participating, please send a confirmation email before October 31, 2012 (participation is free, students are welcome).
b) For those who would like to make a presentation or to suggest some issues for discussions, please send a short abstract of one or two pages (A4) or a paper (published or not) – same deadline October 31, 2012.
c) Based on information received, the SIG chairmen will elaborate a plan of presentations and debates that will be sent to all registered participants before November, 30 2012.
Practicalities and costs:
Mines ParisTech is located in the heart of the latin quarter of Paris, near the Pantheon, Sorbonne University and the Luxembourg gardens. 50 m from the Luxembourg subway Station (RER).
Participation at the workshop is free, students are welcome.
The chair “Design Theory and Methods for Innovation” of Mines ParisTech will pay for the venue, organisation and for lunches during the workshop. There is also a budget for a special get together dinner (on Monday February 4th in the evening).
