Dates: Posters 7-9 June 2012
Location: Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA
Website: http://mason.gmu.edu/~jgero/conferences/dcc12/
Deadline for proposals: 3 February 2012

Posters decribing research – both in progress and completed – are being solicited for the conference. This is an opportunity to present your work in an alternate mode than through formal research papers. In addition to the poster sessions there will be sessions for the presentation of short verbal descriptions of the poster material. At this stage only abstracts of the poster material need to be submitted.

Proposals are invited for half-day workshops on advanced topics related to design computing or design cognition. The workshops that succeed are those that provide considerable opportunity for discussion and are not run as mini-conferences.

Proposals for workshops should contain the following information in no more than 1000 words:
Workshop Title
Name of Chair(s) plus email contact
Committee of 3 to 5 people (preferably with international representation)
Goals of the workshop
Workshop format
Method of admission (e.g., no requirement, abstract, resume)

Submission and other details can be found at: http://mason.gmu.edu/~jgero/conferences/dcc12/ .

This biennial conference series provides an international forum for the presentation and discussion of state-of-the-art and cutting-edge design research with a focus on artificial intelligence, cognitive science and computational theories in design. The conference proceedings will form a continuing archive of design computing and cognition research. The conference will be preceded by a series of half-day workshops on specialist topics in design computing and cognition.

Researchers from all fields employing computation and or cognition in design are invited to participate.

A set of research papers that has been refereed by an international board of reviewers will be presented and published as a book. Posters describing ongoing research will be presented. Workshops provide a forum for the discussion of specialist topics.

DCC10 Workshop: Assessing the Impact of Complexity Science in Design (July 2010, Stuttgart)

Date: 10 July 2010
Website: http://design.open.ac.uk/ecidII/complexity&design.htm

Designers today increasingly turn to concepts and tools coming from complexity science in order to understand, manage and exploit complexity in their everyday practice. Complexity science has been used in design in various ways, as a theory of design; as a method for research (e.g. in order to analyze or model design artefacts, processes and activities); and also as a method for generating design solutions. The aim of the workshop is to discuss and assess the impact of complexity science in design research, design cognition and design practice.

DCC10 Workshop: Design Communication (July 2010, Stuttgart)

Date: 10 July 2010, 9-12.30pm
Submission open until May 14th, 2010
Short position papers of max. 4 pages

This workshop provides an opportunity to discuss the challenges in understanding and supporting communication in design, while at the same time reflecting on the nature of research into design communication. We want to identify the intellectual traditions that have informed communication research to date and those that could offer a real potential in identifying how existing and future research can complement and built on each other.
