DN2010: 5th Intl Conf on Comparing Design in Nature with Science and Engineering

Last July, Re-public published a Special Issue on “Innovative Service Design for All“.
Re-public invites contributions for a second special issue dedicated to “Innovative Service Design for All”.

Service design lies in the centre of attention in contemporary, increasingly service-oriented knowledge economies. In such contexts, user experience is paramount, including both the interfaces and interactions that customers use to contact the service provider, as well as the back-office activities performed by the service provider. Given the complexity of services in modern, multicultural, networked societies and the criticality of their environmental impact, service design becomes a major issue for the years to come. RGD2010: 2nd Intl Design Conf “Responsibility in Graphic Design” (January, Poland)

The Design Faculty at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice cordially invites all Design Teachers, Researchers, Students, Alumni and Professionals to participate in the 2nd International Design Conference under the heading “Responsibility in Graphic Design”, to be held between the 11th and 15th of January 2010 at the Roundabout Art Gallery.

The focus of this conference is on the notion of responsibility with relation to graphic design professionals and teachers, responsible attitudes in its practice, and the necessary changes in the scope and methods of teaching the subject. The conference is intended as a means of bringing together an international group of academics, students, and professionals. We invite everyone who is interested in shaping civic attitudes and teaching responsible design to take part in the lectures and discussions. ICTVC2010: 4th Intl Conf on Typography and Visual Communication (June, Cyprus)

On 17, 18 & 19 June 2010 the Department of Design & Multimedia of the University of Nicosia will be hosting the 4th International Conference on Typography and Visual Communication (ICTVC) with the general theme “Lending Grace to Language”.

After three important and successful international meetings (2002, 2004, 2007 / http://www.ictvc.org/) ICTVC moves to Cyprus.  Our new home sits at the crossroads of three continents, a location of historical significance that far outweighs its small size.  The multicultural character of the island makes Cyprus a perfect location for a conference that explores the world of typographic design and visual language.
