DRS2012: Call for Proposals for Workshops (July 2012, Bangkok)

We are pleased to invite you to submit proposals for workshops for DRS 2012: Bangkok. Workshops should provide an opportunity to discuss and explore emerging areas of design with diverse participants from global design communities. This may address any aspect of theory, established concerns or new perspectives on design research. The goal of the workshops is to share understandings and experiences, to foster research networks and to envision future possibilities. They may take the form of tutorials, group discussion, presentations, a field trip, or any combination of such.

July 1, Sunday, is dedicated to workshops. There are two slots of 3 hours each in the morning and in the afternoon. In addition, an evening slot of 1.5 hours is available on July 3, Tuesday. The workshops are open to all participants in DRS 2012: Bangkok. Registration is required.

Deadline for Proposals and Schedule
January 10 2012: Deadline for the submission of workshop proposal
February 5 2012: Notification of acceptance
July 1 2012: Conference opens

Requirements for Proposals
i.Title of workshop or, if a field trip, details of where this will take place
ii. Names of the organizers
iii. Description of workshop, including objectives
iv. Description of the format
v. An abstract of no more than 200 words for posting on the DRS 2012: Bangkok website
i. Required facilities
ii. Duration (3hrs half day or 6hrs full day or 1.5 hrs mini-workshop)
iii. Minimum and maximum number of participants
iv. Registration fee (to be paid by each participant)
v. Selection procedure (e.g. open to all or on the basis of a position paper)

Workshop proposals will be selected by the program committee. Please send your proposals to info@drs2012bangkok.org with ‘workshop proposal’ in the subject heading.

Fees and Resources

i. The fee of each workshop is EURO 300
ii. A theatre of 40 seats is available but other arrangements can be made on request
iii. Standard AV equipment can be provided including a single projector, screen and 2 wireless microphones
iv. Additional requirements might include extra payment, an internet connection and clip microphone
v. Refreshments are not provided

Field Trip
i. The fee for each trip is Euro 100 for 10 people
ii. A shuttle service in BKK is provided by the organizers and the vehicle type depends on the number of participants for each trip
iii. AV equipment and refreshments are not provided
